On the evening of September 20, the Cuban Embassy in Beijing hosted a reception celebrating the 64th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Cuba and the 60th anniversary of their bilateral education cooperation. Cuban Ambassador to China H.E. Alberto Blanco Silva attended and addressed the event.
The reception was also attended by the Chinese Government's Special Representative for Latin American Affairs Qiu Xiaoqi, who jointly unveiled a commemorative envelope marking the 60 years of education cooperation with Ambassador Blanco. Li Bingshu, the Secretary General of the CICCPS was invited to attend and engaged in exchanges with diplomats from multiple countries stationed in China. He was accompanied by Tang Haoxuan who was the CICCPS member and Deputy Wu Qifeng the Vice Secretary General.
In his speech, H.E. Alberto Blanco Silva the Ambassador stated that Cuba and China were good friends, comrades, and brothers. He characterized the bilateral friendship with the phrases "political mutual trust," "shared legacy," and "mutual respect and support," noting that "Cuba-China relations have become a model of solidarity and cooperation between socialist countries and of sincere mutual assistance among developing nations."
